OliveRite FIELD GUIDE
Read more than the front label
A beautiful bottle is a starting point for questions, not proof of what is inside.
Grade
Read the stated grade and ask what supports it. USDA standards describe grade characteristics; a label term alone does not tell you how a particular bottle has been handled.
Traceability
Look for producer, packer, lot, and origin information. Ask the seller about details that are unclear instead of inferring an origin from branding.
Freshness information
Consider available harvest, bottling, and best-before information together with storage history. Dates are useful context, not a guarantee of flavor.
The right amount
Choose a size you can use while the oil is enjoyable. A larger bottle with a lower unit price may be poor value if it sits open for too long.
Keep the conversation grounded.
